Sorry for the lack of updates, but since I started at my new job there has been far too little time over for coding.

I had an unsuccessful attempt at trying to make a full (yes, including system libs) static build. This, obviously, would be extremely useful for debugging on various distributions. However, turns out that linking to static versions of glibc and such is not that trivial. Qt an Aspell turned out to be fairly easy after building static versions of the libraries.

Anyway, stay tuned. There should be a new version coming out soon with some minor updates and fixes.
